According to news, Anil Kapoor is gearing up to portray the father of Ranbir Kapoor in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film, Animal. During a recent press conference held in Hyderabad, Anil opened up about the profound impact the movie had on him, leading him to reflect on his late father and his relationship with his own son. He expressed, “This film has made me contemplate my father a lot, and my connection with my son.”
Highlighting the unique casting choice, Anil revealed that both he and Ranbir drew from their personal experiences while embodying their respective characters in Animal. He emphasized the significance of the director, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, selecting them to play father and son, citing their longstanding familial connection. Anil shared, “I knew Ranbir’s dad very closely, and we are very close family friends for over 60 years now. He is a part of the family.” He noted that the casting decision wasn’t solely based on their shared Kapoor lineage but also on the natural resemblance that enhanced their on-screen chemistry.
Acknowledging the importance of casting in a film, Anil Kapoor praised Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s choices, especially the “masterstroke” of casting Bobby Deol as the antagonist. Anil highlighted the presence of veteran actors like Suresh Oberoi, Shakti Kapoor, and Prem Chopra in Animal, noting that despite their years of contribution to the industry, societal ageism often fails to fully recognize their talents. According to Anil, the inclusion of these seasoned actors has injected a “freshness” into the film.
In addition to Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor, Animal features an ensemble cast including Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, Suresh Oberoi, Shakti Kapoor, and Prem Chopra. The much-anticipated film is set to hit theaters on December 1.
